So, high school. That mysterious entity that all Americans go through. High School Musical, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and, of course, Carrie, could not do it justice. Everyone has had/is having a different high school experience, but despite the embarrassing stories, friendship drama, etc. that feature in mine, I wouldn’t trade the last four years of my life for anything. They are, after all, what have shaped me into me.
Ugh – I cringe looking back at this year. Mostly because I went through my rebellious phase early, and so was constantly at odds with my parents. This was also when I suddenly had much more personal responsibility for my schoolwork (with great power, comes great need to take a nap). At least my teachers were lovely.
Again, another year of sarcasm and eye-rolling (sorry, mum and dad!). But hey, at least I made some new, much better friends, and did well for my AP Exams. Lesson here: the people you surround yourself with make a BIG difference.
Much better – finally got the hang of my courses (got 5s for nearly all the AP Exams I took, amazingly), and became very independent. This was the summer when I went on an exchange program to Germany, and had an amazing time. Still have the wanderlust bug.
Still in this one, but so far it’s the best year yet. Successfully found my niche – took a looonnngg while, but the growing pains were worth it. Teachers are still lovely, go figure.
So, there you have it – my last four years of living on Planet Earth. What was your high school experience like? Do you have any stories? Do tell – I’d love to know!
